I've been on this ride when I was like 3 at Disneyland and it traumatized me but it's fun and lightwork now

I dunno if it’s just me but this feels SIGNIFICANTLY slower than when I rode it just a couple weeks ago

I like Space Mountain.

Lights off…yeah, you can tell you’re dropping a bit and then zig-zagging your way down…then drop a little…rinse and repeat, but didn’t realize it was some big circles, a couple of figure eight type things, a few more little drops, more big circles, and a couple more figure eights. It seems a lot faster when riding in the dark, then this seems with lights on, but this is cool to see!

Wow, it felt so fast and intense when I rode it! I had no clue the structures were so close together and that the beams were so close to the riders' heads, but I had the feeling the entire time that I was going to hit my head on something. Good to know my instincts were right, even in pitch-darkness! Crazy that the ride felt so much faster and intense just because I couldn't see what was coming.

This roller coaster is my speed, lol. I just can't do those superfast ones!

Is it this slow??

The first (and only) time I rode this my girlfriend a I were tripping balls on LSD. I swear my face still hurts from smiling and laughing!

Going on this for the first time today. First thing I did to prepare myself was go on Thunder mountain and that wasn't that bad. Will edit later with my reaction (this is my first major roller coaster so wish me luck)

Gee, so this is the ride that scared the living daylights out of me when I was a kid.....I was at Disney World the year it opened with my mom and her best friend. I had never been on a coaster before, and neither my mom or her friend recognized this new indoor ride as such. Perhaps they were thinking something along the lines of Small World. So we got in line, but my mom was a bit suspicious of signage warning people with certain health problems not to ride. And as I was tall enough to ride, we proceeded. All was well and good until we got to the top of the lift hill, then (at least in my mind) all hell broke loose! I thought for sure I was going to fly off and die. I didn't scream or cry, as I was probably too busy just gasping for breath.... and I don't think my mom was too happy either. I happed to glance over at her and she had one hand on the bar and the other on top of her head trying desperately to keep her wig from flying off! Her friend was behind us so I didn't see what she was doing. Finally, the ride came to an end (after a seeming eternity for me). I vividly remember how stiff and sore my fingers were from death-gripping the hand hold bar. That and I was shaking.... Hard to believe what is basically an indoor wild mouse gave me a bad case of coaster phobia. Which sadly kept me away from parks and rides for many years. I was in my mid twenties before I set foot on anything bigger than a carnival coaster. A few years ago I went back to Disney World and rode Space Mountain again, just for old time sakes. Naturally, it was quite tame, considering I've been to parks all over the country and ridden some pretty extreme coasters. I'll have to show my mom this video - I'll tell her this is the coaster that almost stole her wig! 😄

I remember when I was little and I went to Disney World for the first time, my dad tricked me into riding Space Mountain. I was so afraid because it was dark and I had no idea what was going on. Now that I watched this, it made me think “THIS is what I was afraid of?” 😭😭

There’s no way this was the speed it was going at when I went on it as a kid😭😭

This ride sucks but in a good way

Despite the idea that it doesn't remotely look steampunk, just creepy like a spider robot.

I gotta say, coasters in the dark feel much more intense than they actually are! I rode this and felt like I was going 3 TIMES AS FAST!

I went on this for the first time in 2019 and idk if my butt actually lifted that far out of the seat or if it just felt like it did, but it actually made me go “oh shit oh shit” a couple times. Not in the fun way but in the REAL “I’m scared” way LOL. And I love the roller coasters at Islands of Adventure and Knotts Berry Farm so I’m not a ride chicken at all!!

This is the scariest ride I’ve ever been on. I heard about the story that a man put his hands up on this ride and it got mutilated. I was so scared I would accidentally put my hand up.

with lights on , so that's how high up it was as i feared not it due to no visual reference to the ground its obvious when outside to going in any steps or escalator is raising above the ground i should have known that but the rca monitors and everything is there to distract its like taking the same ride again only with the lights on feb 1981 was there didn't mind it then , now i do mind its mary daisy kk star wars sue that ruined it all for me i noticed rca monitors everywhere the lining up though a zigzag took almost hour waiting due to so many seats on rollercoaster , weather for feb was mostly dry warm temperatures with few days patchy rain spell showers even on first day arrival it was raining in orlando sort of same uk 10 11 hrs earlier via DC10 then smaller DC9 that even flew over the triangle and thunder electrical storm saw first space shuttle only tips of the wings as it was covered up , saw first testing of main three engines on tv at tampa bay too bad not there as the sound would have been interesting saw many floridia alligators , saw gulf ocean and signs that says sharks in the water , kinder like , jaws and hardly anyone on the beach sand next to the hotels saw a shopping mule centre , saw the worst food was turtle soup now that is cruel , how can florida eat turtle soup i may have seen a man in the florida area that served his cows oranges now that is strange cows eating oranges i saw secret agents at one of the hotels all dressed up looking very sinister i saw a lift that didn't have number 13 on the buttons and yes i'm the same superstitious i saw an ice machine in the hotel corridor near a lift , that could have been maybe the highlight of the whole holiday trip , an ice machine that had coke printed on it could have been thee most coolest thing , its the real thing i saw , i just can't get over that ice machine i had around less than $200 to spend most went on those chicken in the basket , poor creature and other little things that i can't recall but that ice machine at that tampa bay sheraton hotel ice machine , i wonder if that ice machine is still there ?

Man, with the coasters Ive ridden this is peanuts… but when I was little this thing scared the ever loving sh*t out of me! Lol

You know an imagineer did good when they can turn a simple carnival roller coaster into something as great as space mountain.
